Judith Klein-Seetharaman, PhD
Dr. Klein-Seetharaman uses both computational and experimental approaches to study the mapping between protein sequences and their structure, function and dynamics. Her specific interests lie in conformational changes in proteins with function as biological sensor systems, in particular the G-protein coupled receptors, a pharmacologically relevant family of membrane proteins. Her computational approaches include statistical methods derived from language analysis for deciphering the "words" and their "meaning" in the protein sequence language. Students can either work on global aspects of differences in the languages across organisms, or focus on specific functional aspects, such as protein-protein interactions or protein (mis)folding.
